NYFW - Day 1
After spending almost (12) hours in the Atlanta airport due to snow storms and flight cancellations on Monday (I cried twice...it was that bad), I finally arrived to NYC at 5am Tuesday morning. So much for the movie-esque entrance into the worlds greatest city! Instead, I found myself at a nearby 24 hour drugstore to grab some NyQuil, Emergen-C, Water, and a yogurt.
The day was extremely stressful and I seriously contemplated canceling my trip and heading straight to my next destination (DEN). Thanks to some serious listening support from my
amazing hubby and my mom, I was able to pull it together and make it to NYC... I'M SO GLAD I DID! ...the major downside of going to bed at 5am is waking up at 2pm the next day; I usually have a hard time adjusting to the east coast time change. But this time, coming from Atlanta, I was looking forward to already having been acclimated to EST on my arrival....nope, I was now WAY off!! WAYYYYY off! 2pm it was...
Regardless what time it was when I left the hotel...first thing's first...COFFEE :) My go to on the UWS is a Parisian Boulangerie by Eric Kayser; delicious pastries, savory tartines, and well-balanced espresso. The atmosphere is quite lovely and the people, passionate (always a delight ;)
Grabbed a quick bite and then, it was time!!! Time to head to our first show of the week. ah!! One of our designers in Vancouver, Bahareh, was selected from across North America, as one of maybe 10 designers, to debut her 2016 Fall/Winter line at fashion week! I mean, already I was stoked, so unbelievably proud of her, and honored to be in attendance. Then, TO MY SURPRISE, we pulled up The Skylight at the Moynihan! Just to put it into perspective, this is where some of the worlds greatest designers world wide would debut their fall/winter 2016 lines as well; Anna Sui, Marchesa, Bibhu Mahopatra just to name a few. It was Magical! B, was fantastic and her line stood out for sure!
These we're two of my favorite looks from the evening's show :)
Sometimes you just have to push through. You have to fight through the momentary discomfort, feel sorry for a second, and then keep fighting! I almost missed out on an amazing, life changing week! Check back tomorrow for NYFW - Day 2! Had a run in with my favorite model and the editor of one of the most renowned fashion magazines! Yes, I was a bit star-struck. ha!
